One of the most significant trends I have observed in recent years is the increasing emphasis on sharing self-care methods. However, it is unfortunate that when we engage in conversations about self-care, it often turns into a competition, where we try to prove that we are taking better care of ourselves than others. It seems like we have found yet another way to judge one another, perhaps as a means to boost our own self-esteem and feel superior. This phenomenon raises questions about the true essence of self-care and whether it should be a personal journey of self-improvement or a social status symbol.

Taking care of oneself has become a trend in modern times, but it's more than just a trend. Self-care is not only a necessity but also a lifestyle. With the current unpredictable and fast-paced lifestyle, we sometimes forget to look after ourselves. Individuals often put others' needs before their own, and we end up neglecting our well-being. It's crucial to understand that self-care is vital for our physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being. In this article, we will discuss why self-care is not just a trend but also a lifestyle.

Prevent burnout and reduce stress: Taking breaks, getting sufficient sleep, meditating, or practicing other relaxation techniques help prevent burnout. Keeping stress at bay keeps our immune system healthy and contributes to overall well-being. Engaging in self-care activities reduces cortisol levels, a stress hormone, and increases endorphins, a happy hormone.

Helps maintain a healthy lifestyle: Self-care involves taking simple things like eating healthy foods, staying hydrated, and exercising regularly. These activities can help maintain a healthy lifestyle, thus preventing illnesses and other complications associated with an unhealthy lifestyle, such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
